MACHINE-MADE CLAY PLAIN TILES
The unique Acme range of machine-made clay plain tiles, complemented by a range of fittings provides an opportunity for designers and contractors to achieve roofing of the highest standard and quality, by combining the benefits of advance manufacturing techniques with the charm and warmth associated with traditional material.
Manufactured from the famour Etruria Marl, Acme tiles are noted for their exceptional strength and durability. The small unit size of the tile, combined with the wide range of fittings available, make Acme tiles the ideal choice for creative roof design. The colour and character of Acme tiles have a lasting beauty, warmth and, most importantly, their appearance improves with each passing season.
Large investments in kilns, driers and handling equipment has enabled us to provide a wide range of colours at competitive prices.
FORMAT
Acme clay tiles are produced in both smooth and sand faced versions. The tile is available in a double camber format, which helps water discharge quickly from the surface and breaks up the roof line, adding greater texture to each tile course.
A range of ornamental shaped tiles is available to add interest and texture to the roof for vertical tile handing features. These are available in all machine-made plain tile colours.

Acme double camber tiles conform to BS EN 1304: 1988 and are manufactured in a kitemarked factory.

ORNAMENTAL TILES

COLOURS
The body colour of Acme smooth clay plain tiles is red/brown with minor tonal variations which result from the natural clay material. In the case of brindle tiles, controlled variation of the kiln atmosphere during firing is used to produce a blend of natural fixed colours.
Acme sandfaced clay plain tiles are surfaced with selected sand before firing.

MACHINE-MADE CLAY PLAIN TILES
The Hawkins range of machine made clay plain tiles lends itself to all roofing applications. The tiles combine the proven traditional firing process with modern technology to give an individually brindled product.
Manufactured for over 150 years using the finest Etruria Marl, the Hawkins range of plain and ornamental shaped tiles allows versatility and flexibility, offering unlimited design opportunities.
FORMAT
Hawkins plain clay tiles are manufactured with straight edges (formally know as Pheonix) and a single camber which is ideally suited to refurbishment projects and new build alike.
A distinctive colour range is available, encompassing true brindle colours, thus allowing the creation of unique and attractive roofs.

The Hawkins manufacturing plant manufactures clay tiles to BS EN 1304: 1988 and holds a kitemark licence.

ASHDOWNE
HANDCRAFTED CLAY PLAIN TILES
The skills of the craftsmen who create the Ashdowne range of handcrafted clay plain tiles have been handed down through generations. It is this human touch which helps to give the tiles their inimitable warmth, character and mellow beauty, whilst their granular texture and slight random irregularities make each tile unique.
Having such a wealth of shades and mixes to choose from is especially valuable when there is a need to match the original tiles in a refurbishment project. However, new-build schemes can also be wonderfully enhanced by the warm beauty of Ashdowne to perfectly complement the surrounding environment.

Ashdowne is a range of single camber tiles which also includes handcrafted Peg Tiles and Kent Pegs. Peg Tiles and Kent Pegs are nibless and random surfaced tiles which can be made to order in all the handcrafted tile colours.
